Java Developer (Contract)

Company Introduction
We have an exciting opportunity now available with one of our sector-leading financial services clients! They are currently looking for a skilled Java Developer to join their team for a twelve-month contract.

Job Responsibilities/Objectives

  1. Gathering requirements from the business analyst team.
  2. Analyse any new technical requirements within the development team.
  3. Develop and unit test the application using Java/Java 8, REST, JUnit, Cucumber etc.
  4. Writing SQLdb procedures, performance optimization of the queries and stored procedures.
  5. Sprint planning and attending retrospective call, daily stand-up call for the agile scrum process.
  6. Review the JIRA and acceptance criteria for any task planned. For the sprint with the team.
  7. Discussion with QA team for any QA/UAT release and discuss the test plans.
  8. Follow the release management process and plan for any production turnover.
  9. Providing support for critical production issue.
  10. Keeping the technical document and the project artefacts up to date.
  11. Planning and executing the migration of old applications to the new platform.
  12. Review and optimize the performance of the application on Java and database side.

Required Skills/Experience
The ideal candidate will have the following:

  1. Strong interest in the financial products trading and regulation.
  2. Knowledge in JAVA, J2EE and understanding OOP.
  3. Knowledge on common Java frameworks and technologies including Spring Framework, Hibernate, JPA.
  4. Experience on web services including knowledge of REST, SOAP, XML, JSON.
  5. Experience in Java multiple threading program is highly preferred.
  6. Strong data analytical skills with SQL.
  7. Experience following the SDLC via Agile Methodologies.
  8. Familiarity with Linux Unix environment, including working with Shell, ssh and/or other command line tools.
  9. Experience working in medium to large scale development projects.
  10. Software craftsmanship agile development practices such as pair programming, TDD, BDD, continuous integration or feature toggles.
  11. Enterprise software architecture.
