Location: London/Leeds  Country: UK Rate: Circa £350
 

Junior Cloud Infrastructure Engineer

Circa £350 per day, outside IR35

6-month contract initially

Located in London or Leeds - Hybrid role (2/3 days on site)

We have an urgent requirement for a junior cloud infrastructure engineer, on behalf of a global organisation that operates within the Gambling sector.

You will be an integral part of the data migration project team, facilitating the merger of two separate data stacks into an AWS environment.

It is desired that this candidate has experience in a similar project migrating from a Snowflake or MySQL environment to AWS.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with senior team members to execute data migration tasks, ensuring a smooth transition from Snowflake and MySQL to AWS.
  • Support the setup and configuration of cloud infrastructure components in AWS, including storage, compute, and networking resources.
  • Assist in identifying and resolving technical issues related to cloud infrastructure, and troubleshooting issues that may arise during the migration process.
  • Contribute to the documentation of migration procedures, infrastructure configurations, and troubleshooting steps, ensuring comprehensive records for future reference.
  • Participate in monitoring and optimising cloud infrastructure performance, identifying key opportunities for efficiency improvements and cost optimisation.
  • Provide flexibility and adaptability to changing project requirements and priorities throughout the migration.

Qualifications:

  • Ideally, you will have a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science or Data Management.
  • Familiarity with cloud computing platforms, particularly AWS, Snowflake & MySQL.
  • Knowledge of services such as EC2, S3, RDS, and VPC is desirable.
  • Understanding of database systems, SQL querying, and data management concepts.
  • Proficiency in Scripting languages such as Python or Bash for automation and infrastructure management tasks.
  • Basic understanding of CI/CD pipelines and version control systems like Git.
  • Exposure to Apache Airflow, Informatica, or similar data integration tools.
